As an elementary school teacher for several years, I always dreamed of writing a story that kids could see themselves in. Daylan and the River of Secrets is that story.
When I was in elementary school, I was called many names. Most of them didn’t feel right. Now, as an adult, I’m thrilled to bring you Daylan’s journey—because there’s a bit of Daylan in me, and I hope you’ll find a bit of yourself in him too. 🥲
This book is also a tribute to Mexican folklore. It’s a song, a legend, and an adventure wrapped into one.
From Publishers Weekly: 12-year-old Daylan tries to overcome his fear of swimming after a long-ago river encounter with Cihuamichin—a legendary water woman with the power to bring either safety or destruction to his small Mexican community.
Thank you for supporting Daylan and the River of Secrets—now available in both English and Spanish.
